GENESIS

COVID-19… Maintaining the world in a forced state of lockdown for more than a year and depriving individuals of any possibility for exploration and adventure. Faced this situation, sitting at a restaurant table, our minds began to dream of freedom and travel… “Pass your motorcycle license, man” told Etienne. With this sentence and a one-month motivation, we were finally on sitting on a similar step. By February 2020, we were finally ready.The timeline of our friendship is quite singular. We met in high school and shared a year in the same class, without developing any particular chemistry. A 10-year gap preceded our reunion at Grenoble Ecole de Management (GEM), where we spent two years working and enjoying ourselves surrounded by the mountain air. During our school time, we also started the TEDx adventure (https://www.ted.com/tedx/events/29461), where we were finally able to progress and challenge each other.

And then… Back at it again. Another “friendship break”. Each of us was going our own way in auditing and finance, to finally meet again in September 2020, sitting at this restaurant table. The idea of the trip finally came very suddenly.

“Shall we go for a trip? – Hell yeah! – Well, where shall we land?”

After a few minutes of intense thinking, we came up with this… “Well Calcutta, my sister lives there with her husband, let’s meet her there.” (Arnaud). Done deal, we were launching ourselves in this crazy adventure.

However, the crisis and the access constraints made this expedition almost impossible. As we were getting ready, we finally decided to limit our trip to the eastern part of the Asian continent, towards Georgia and Turkey. Thus, India will have to wait for another episode of our lives. We were going for a Euro Trip.

After months of preparation, we were finally going on an adventure which would bring us through Europe. Our families, friends, and girlfriends left in Paris; we peacefully discover the motorcycle adventure. Our bodies, tired from the summer delicacies, suffer and slowly adapt to the practice of motorized two wheels: reduced space, exposure to weather conditions, camping in the wild etc… We also realize the importance of having a great equipment in order to remain as focused as possible on the road.

So much happiness and joy to start a 4-month adventure, through sumptuous landscapes and unforgettable encounters. What a joy to let ourselves live without boundaries and be fully free! The Alps, the lakes and the Swiss vineyards mesmerize us. The road becomes our playground. We are getting used to these big U turns and undulating tracks, putting our driving skills to the test. We quickly improve.
